We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer on the NN International catapult team, you will play a key role in supporting the company's goal to become a data-driven organization. The catapult team supports the NN data platform program by assisting in the deployment and expansion of the new standard NN data platforms across Europe and in the migration and decommissioning of the legacy data initiatives. This will involve providing local and remote hands-on support to country data teams, collaborating with the NNDAP product team, and developing components on top of the NNDAP platform. You will be a critical member of the team responsible for ensuring the success of the NN data platform program. The catapult team is located in Prague close to the Data Science team and Data Modelling team. The NNDAP product team is located in the Netherlands.

Your impact as a Data Engineer

The new Data Platform Catapult team will consist of 4 Data and Cloud engineers. At the Data Platform catapult team, you will be responsible for the building and automation of data platform infrastructure and functional data components. You enable and actively collaborate with our platform teams in the business units to deliver high-quality software components, used at the BU’s to compile data systems which make NN the best data-driven financial services company. You get the opportunity to take part in designing and implementing code that will be re-used by over 75 data engineers in 10 teams and 10 countries.

This means you are in regular direct contact with data engineers from different teams, cloud engineers, ML Ops engineers, as well as the NNDAP product owner and product manager. To set the foundation of the materialization of NN’s data ambitions, you must be self-directed and comfortable with the complexity of supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems and products.

Technologies you will work with

  • Our infrastructure runs on MS Azure cloud and we use Terraform as IaC. We test with Terratest (Go)
  • We use Azure Data Factory for pipelines and orchestration and Databricks for processing and transforming data. 

Your role

  • Supporting the roll-out and implementation of data platforms in multiple international locations
  • Enable business teams to run successful data and AI projects Providing technical guidance and mentorship to local data teams members
  • Understand the needs of your various customers from different units and translate them to modular solutions which are usable by the vast majority
  • You are proficient in analysis, design, construction and testing of pipelines and you consider requirements from performance, management, compliance, and security
  • Share knowledge in our data engineering community, pair program and collaborate on code together with other data engineers within NN
  • You automate all the boring and repetitive things so that there is more time for the things that really matter
  • Staying up-to-date with the latest data platform technologies and industry trends

Your responsibilities

  • Understand the needs of your various customers and translate them in solutions

  • Design and build modern data pipelines and data streams
  • Coding complex U-SQL, Spark, Scala or Python solutions.
  • Developing Data Platform solutions using Azure Stack (Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Databricks)
  • Deployment of changes through CI/CD using Azure DevOps

Your Profile

  • Previous experience as Data engineer
  • 3+ relevant experience with Spark, preferably Databricks, and programming in Python.
  • 5+ relevant experience data warehouse design and data lake concepts and practices;
  • Experience to work Agile/Scrum
